Living through all this in the way he did is only possible by the love of DOG, and his bone awaits him at his fleece bed.

Without subtitles, I understand about 10% of the dialog. British jibberish...

Heartbreaking heartbreaking. It was so difficult to watch, and lots of crying. I wish they offered some kind of "things you can do to help" at the end.... :(

So true to life in the north, people struggling to get somewhere just to be s**t on by the system!

Really poignant movie, all too true here in the US as well. Some might say it's depressing, but I find it highly motivating to come together as a community to help one another. Don't let the government (or anyone) take away your…

Heartbreaking, but all too familiar. Think it can't happen here? Think again!

I can't recall the last time I saw a movie about real people struggling with against injustice and the exasperating system. Fantastic acting by everyone.

Having followed ATOS assessments in the UK through the news and from people I know, this story is true to life. In fact many have been put through far worse and ended in suicide. Very well done film.

We heard of similar horror stories on this side of the pond as help seekers fell into bureaucratic traps in our social safety net programs. Exhibits are the homeless and prostitutes population. It is not subtle like the timeless 1952…

This drama movie is about a carpenter who has fallen ill and is trying to collect his Support Allowance to no avail. While arguing with the government to get what he deserves and requires, he comes across a single mother who has been…

Brilliant! Tells it like it is. Very familiar with this kind of twisted, crazy making treatment in UK and Canada. UK seniors, my parents, with serious health conditions deal with this kind of garbage every week, they don't have computer…

This Ken Loach masterpiece shows the tragedy of poverty and triumph of love. This movie illustrates how powerful a small act of kindness can heal and how a small act of petty cruelty can affect a life. I believe Daniel's goodness will live…

Excellent. Very insightful. Damn the government bureaucracy (in England and in Oregon) for all the people who fall through the cracks.

SLOW, SLOW, SLOW paced. Accent so thick I couldn't understand most of it. The closed captions come in big batches and disappear quickly. While I appreciate the concept of authenticity of a variety of UK accents, bad subtitles made me give…

The most powerful film I've seen in a very long time. Moving and tear-inducing, yet the film doesn't play for pity. Instead, an outstanding story and superb acting throw light on the face of a public service focused on petty rules rather…

Bureaucratic injustice, red tape, working class confusion and sadness. Daniel Blake (Dave Johns) is dropped into a modern society that has changed since he started working. Solitary, with others around, searching for jobs on a complicated…

Recommended! How convoluted systems prevent good people who need temporary aid from getting it, and then the downward spiral that ensues. How working people can be just one negative incident away from winding up hungry and homeless. Heavy…

another great Loach comment on society - maybe his last. excellent doc on Loach's film making history in the special features.

The poor are shoved completely over the edge when most in need - intentionally and without even a pretense of caring - because no one can possibly follow all the rules and jump through all the hoops that they, and they alone, are expected…

Based on true events and yet it's so unreal to see the indignity these unfortunate people have suffered in this film. Bureacracy can be a real pain. This movie made me angry.
