Add a CommentFor anyone seriously interested in South Africa, this is a superb book. After 600 pages, I only wanted the book to keep going and going as I traveled in South Africa in 2011. Sampson, a British journalist who worked for a time in South Africa, knew Mandela personally. He illuminates the very complex history of the man, the people, and the times, and brings the story to life with the passion that arose out of his own direct involvement.
