Great book to show children that being blind doesn't mean not experiencing normal things like sibling disagreements and caring for a pet. Brian experiences joy in having a pet budgie by hearing it chirp, mimic his words, the flapping of wings during exercise outside the cage, and the feel of its feet as it perches on his finger. Caring for the bird also helps Brian and his brother overcome differences.
