When Harry and his sister find a murdered women near the river, they are sure the Goat Man did it.

Not the greatest writing, but superb plot, very suspenseful.

An East Texas brother & sister find a body in the river bottoms near their house. The brother is narrating story from his nursing home bed. Father of boy is constable/farmer/barber, in 30's. Family is white and friendly and tolerant toward black people. Body is black prostitute. Other murders follow. Boy and grandmother try to help solve crime after lynching of old black river man causes father to give up and start drinking.
