Roses are the "queens of the garden" - glorious, regal, and sometimes a little hard to handle. But as readers of his acclaimed The Rose Bible know, Rayford Clayton Reddell is just the man to handle them. In A Year in the Life of a Rose, Reddell shares his tips on when and how to plant, prune, feed, grow, and cut all kinds of roses throughout the year - no matter where you live or how long the growing season of your region.
Incorporating the advice of thirteen consultants who discuss rose care in their respective USDA geographic zones, and blossoming with Reddell's idiosyncratic opinions, A Year in the Life of a Rose reveals some of the best-kept secrets of the rose world so that readers can create a personalized schedule for year-round rose care.

I recently moved into a place where we have 2-3 rosebushes out front—and while I enjoy container gardening with flowers, caring for roses is a whole new ballgame for me!

The author had a very easy tone and it was a quick read, but I still feel like I retained a lot of the information presented. The book has a lot of good advice on how to care for roses throughout the year, and has care guides for all the USDA zones. After reading the book, I feel a lot more confident in about caring for my roses. Now for the freezing to stop!

I feel like this would be a good book for anyone venturing into the world of rose culture for the first time.
