This classic tale of a mother's love for her child is magical. Plus, you get to learn what an Umiak is.
Very good and there is a glossary at the back to explain some of the unfamiliar words . Good book to read with the young ones .
The previous poster failed to see that there is a glossary at the end of the book to define the words that may not be familiar with children.
I grew up reading this story. It is one of my childhood favorites. My son enjoys it too.
fun book to read but need to define a few words before reading.
This book was a favourite of my daughter's bedtime reading. Her grandmother went on a trip to Alaska and brought this book back for her. It will continue to be special. Barbara Lavallee's stylized whimsical paintings are exquisite.
