"Booth Tarkington’s The Magnificent Ambersons is a delightful novel. In addition, it is a view of Indianapolis’ evolution from a major marketing center to a great industrial city. It adds a new dimension to one’s understanding of the coming of the Industrial Age to the State of Indiana." —Herman B Wells, Indiana University

"With the tremendous emphasis on wealth and status in contemporary society, Tarkington’s observations are as apt today as when first written. But that is what makes a classic, isn’t it?" —Library Journal

One of the best books I have ever read. At first, it seems to be a story about an arrogant child growing up and becoming and insufferable adult. But It is so much more than this. It is a story about choices and how they can shape your life forever. It is a story about love; the love of a doting mother for her son, the love of a father for his daughter, or the love of a woman for a man. Most of all, it is a story about forgiveness, for none of us are perfect.

The downfall of a family and its fortune in three generations. Well written and stars one of the most unpleasant, arrogant, selfish characters in fiction.
