A disappointing re-teaming of the creative team behind "The Apartment." Billy Wilder directs Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine, who both are game, but it's not a very good movie.

this is a broad French farce, Molière written all over it, broadly acted by expert practitioners, Billy Wilder, the director, wanted, apparently, Marilyn Monroe to play Irma, Charles Laughton would be his Moustache, then Marilyn died, threw a whole other spin, for me, on the picture, I imagined Irma brought to life by a completely transcendental Marilyn, eclipsing the competent, even probably definitive, but less incandescent, MacLaine - memorable music, great shots of early morning Paris brought fond memories back

This 1963 film by Billy Wilder is one of the timeless comedy that I have enjoyed over and over. Watching a young Shirley MacLean, scantily dressed, is one big bonus. Fun to watch!

I didn't really like this film, although the idea Lemmon comes up with to keep his girl exclusive to him is funny and so are some of the consequences that follow.
