what a cast for this film, an erudite take on the teen film genre. favorite scene: the croquet match.

This is by far my favorite movie (currently) I saw it when I was 12 and really enjoyed it. It's dark, kind of violent, and really thrilling. I was introduced to it via the musical by the same name, which I highly suggest you check out.

One of my favorite 80s movies. Not sure what's up with all the bad reviews. Was it seriously your 1st time watching the movie?? Some people have terrible taste in classic 80s movies.

Suck a dark, wicked, twisted black comedy.

Dark and twisted and delightful, HEATHERS is the polar opposite of CLUELESS. It's MEAN GIRLS taken to the extreme. The premise is that Veronica (Winona Ryder) isn't buying the social hierarchy in Westerburg High. Although she is popular, taken under the wing of the popular Heathers, a group of girls who happen to have the same name, Veronica doesn't like what she has to do to remain in their good graces. Fed up, she aligns herself with an edgy new boy at school, J.D. (Christian Slater), who shows her a way to put an end to their reign once and for all. I like HEATHERS, but I wished that the ending was different. The original conclusion was different and never actually filmed because the studio feared it wouldn't test well. Other than that, I like HEATHERS. It's a completely different kind of teen flick. If you're dark and a touch demented, then the macabre HEATHERS is for you.

I also could not finish this movie. It was so painful to watch that I had to stop because i was feeling dumb to be watching such an idiotic production. What a waste, why do they make movies like this? Where has morality gone to?

Yet another 80’s comedy centred on teenage malaise featuring the usual high school stereotypes (milk-spewing geeks, meathead jocks, hippy potheads et al) and the clueless parents and lame-duck teachers who always seem to be looking the other way. But like a cross between "Revenge of the Nerds" and Malick’s "Badlands" Michael Lehmann’s bleak campus caper underlines its cynical laughs with a darker despair that touches on such hot-button issues as youth suicide, date rape (a bizarrely effective scene), adolescent alienation, and the kind of school violence which would later grab real life headlines. Too bad things don’t quite gel into a cohesive whole thanks to some jarring edits and dangling storylines. Furthermore a few weak pop culture references pretty much fall flat—the local cops are named Milner and McCord (google Adam-12 if you’re under 40); Veronica’s “normal” friend is named Betty (read Archie comics much?) while their last names are Sawyer and Finn; and a copy of Sylvia Plath’s "The Bell Jar" figures prominently. Apparently writer Daniel Waters wanted Kubrick to helm production which leaves me to wonder what rabbits Stanley may have been able to pull out of such a black hat.

It's not everyday that I don't finish the movie, but I stopped this one after 30 mins because I did not get close to laughing.
I have laughed at some terribly "black" humour in the past but this one was not for me. Much like how I was terribly disappointed with "Mean Girls", what passes for humour sometimes, is the audience finding something funny mainly because they can directly relate to the personal "trauma" and bitterness in having already lived through such experiences. THAT to me is not inherently "clever" or "funny". Oh, and Christian Slater's "sexy" voice was ANNOYING.

My first black comedy disguised as an 80's teen flick. Great cast. Brilliant script. Unique.
