This book blew my mind. Who knew women fought as soldiers in the Civil War both as Yankees and Confederates? No history class I ever took talked about it. Having read this book, it all makes sense. This well researched book explains the myriad of reasons why women fought in that war, what they did, how they did it, why we didn't know much about them. These women were undoubtedly brave and determined. The authors used first hand sources in writing this little known, amazing history. A must read for anyone interested in women's history, the Civil War, and U.S. History.
