Great book on a late war ETO replacement. He is one who survived and who walked point. good descriptions of small unit tactics. great insight into the fate of replacements.

He was not ASTP but rather a very young infantryman.

A FANTASTIC book of front line infantry towards the end of the war. Covers many battles I was not aware of, and conditions in which they fought. Their engagment against the SS was gripping to say the least. I've read a few bio's now, and this ranks near the top. As a side note, the author provides all his own sketches to highlight his actions.
