Current format, Book, 2003, 11th ed, In-library use only. Offered in 0 more formatsThe 10th Collegiate appeared in 1994, and is cited in Guide to Reference Books. The 11th contains another 70 pages and another 10,000 words (e.g. World Wide Web , post-structuralism , netizen , McJob and phat ) derived from a lexical archive of over 15.5 million words (the 10th's archive was 14.5 million). Many dates of first use have been pushed back in time based on new evidence: the 10th had the date of postmodern at 1949 while the 11th has 1925 (the definition has been expanded as well). Finally, the following change of appearance: main entries and guidewords are now sans serif, further distinguishing them from explanatory matter. As in other Collegiate editions, all images are line drawings, and biographical and geographical names garner their own sections. The 11th includes a CD-ROM and a year subscription to the online version. Annotation (c) Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
