I recommend this book to anyone who lives with cats. It is written with insight and compassion for both the animals and their "humans", who think they are doing the right thing but are not really acting in their pets' best interests. The use of plenty of case histories along with with anecdotes about the author's own cats add interest and readability.

It is a refreshing change to read a book written by a cat behaviorist, as opposed to a veterinarian.

Although based in England, this applies to cats anywhere. It brings up some interesting thoughts on different problems that can come up, especially in multi-cat households. To stop cats urinating all over the place, which some owners put up with for at least a decade, there is the rule of 1 box per cat plus 1.
