And, was Greta Garbo attractive? Yes, she was - But, with that said, after watching her in these 3 somewhat over-long, silent-era films, I certainly cannot honestly accept the legendary status that (over the years) has been attributed to her apparent beauty.

Cold, aloof and impenetrable - Far from being considered a seductress, I'd truthfully have to say that when it comes to Greta Garbo the term "Ice Queen" best describes her screen-presence more appropriately.

It sure didn't help matters much that (here in her early introduction to Hollywood) Garbo was clearly miscast in these 3 contrived, depressing and melodramatic clunkers from the late 1920s (which paired her with 3 of the most unsuitable leading men imaginable, like that big ham, John Gilbert).

All-in-all - I personally think that Garbo's looks were grossly over-rated and (if she really had any talent as an actress) Hollywood completely wasted her, even during the talking-era.

Is it any wonder that, at the absolute height of her career, Garbo (who was rumoured to be bi-sexual) turned her back on Tinseltown? - Never to return.
