Baker & Taylor
A new anthology of fiction that blends magic and mystery follows the exploits of investigators who find their cases threatened by black magic, itinerant sorcerers, supernatural entities, and other magical complications, in a collection of fantasy tales by Harry Turtledove, Neil Gaiman, Gene Wolfe, David Drake, Esther M. Friesner, and other notable writers.

Blackwell North Amer
Pity the poor plainclothes cop or private eye who has to solve a case which may involve not only femme fatales (who may not be quite human) but also death by black magic, evidence that may have been altered or planted by an itinerant sorcerer, and supernatural entities ranging from ghosts to vampires to dragons. Even when the detective is a master of sorcery himself, the dragon may have an unbreakable alibi. Best-selling authors Eric Flint and Mike Resnick present a generous selection of stories from the intersection of mystery and magic by popular writers Neil Gaiman, Gene Wolfe, David Drake, Harry Turtledove, Esther M. Friesner, and more, including brand new novelettes by Flint and Resnick themselves. The Dragon Done It is an exciting cross-genre volume that both mystery fans and fantasy fans will enjoy.
And so will dragons.

Some stories are excellent, some are only so-so. Some authors have taken the premise of "fantasy detective stories" and written an excellent short story that doesn't strain the reader's mind; others are just trying too hard. Overall, however, I would recommend this book to those who like mystery/detective stories and who like fantasy.
