A little slow getting started, but a good movie over all.
Yeah, wow. Let me reiterate the common thread: bleak, grim, depressing. Definitely not a date night flick. Ouch.
Funereal pacing, soundtrack scored in minor chords and pokey pacing get this movie deported. Lots of stars, movie and TV, like that guy from NCIS and what's his name from the cancelled Ashley Judd show? The one about her kidnapped son? In Europe? THAT one! Anyway, it tries to be "Crash" but it's a crashing bore. The aim was probably to rip the lid off of the arbitrary bureaucratic beast that is the US Dept. of State Immigration and Naturalization Service but it could have been done better.
life is not about fair
Grim, but a fairly well done film, as one can usually expect of Harrison Ford. If the situations presented are to be believed, this is a rather disturbing commentary on the American immigration system.
Very bleak and depressing outlook on immigration, but good dialog, fast pace, and unusual casting.
Well made film with solid acting. Not the suspense thriller I was lead to believe - even tedious at times
Disappointing. Even though they all shared the same theme, it seemed more like a collection of short stories than a feature film.
Fair – Crossing Over (2009) 113 min. Though we’re entertained by the likes of Harrison Ford, Ashley Judd and Ray Liotta, I had a difficult time understanding the point of this film. The concept of the film is to look at certain individuals and their strive to becoming American citizens. I wasn’t sure whether the point was that all immigrants bring some sort of negative aspect to the States or that the American system works but the people in the system are corrupt. Some of the motivations specifically with the Harrison Ford character needed a little more background story to understand why he does the things he does. I was left with a huge question after the film – what did I just see and what was the point of the story?
I was a bit disappointed. Harrison Ford was good but wasn't in it all that much as there were a few storylines and they didn't really flow well.
