Very raw and visceral. The Dead Weather specialize in a no-nonsense, no-frills style of rock and roll, and although some of their creative choices seem questionable from my perspective (Old Mary, I'm Mad), there still can be no doubt that the Sea of Cowards is a good piece of modern rock music. Any fan of Jack White's other projects should be pleased with this offering.
"You know, with Jack on the drums and only sometimes providing 'side vocals' I can't say this sounds like The White Stripes." And you can quote me on that. (SS)

Stark, harsh and jarring, Dead Weather solidifies Jack White's reign over guitar rock, even if Alison Mosshart remains somewhat unused.
