While not to original, this movie kept me interested with its wise cracking main character.

It's not great art, but I loved it. Disclosure: I love almost anything that Luc Besson has a hand in, and smart-aleck action movies are also a favourite. Pearce's deadpan delivery is terrific, Maggie Grace carries her own weight as the modern damsel in distress, and the collection of character actors in supporting roles is very good. Of course it's ridiculous, of course it's far-fetched, but it's also terrific escapist adventure if you're in the mood for it.

If you don't going into this expecting a loud, inane action movie, it's kind of on you. I like my action movies like I like my presidents: aggressive, confident, and not too bright. "Lockout" is all three. The silly premise, which rips off "Escape from NY," not "LA," involves the president's daughter getting capture in a space prison. The prisoner who escapes and frees the other prisoners has an absurdly easy time. Enter Guy Pearce as the wisecracking, ass-kicking dude who will save her. Pearce is better than the material, but seems to be having fun. There's not too much plot and plenty of big, dumb action. In the credits it says "based on an original idea by Luc Besson," which is hilarious because Besson has never had an original idea in his life, unless you count making Milla Jovovich an action star. Way more entertaining than "Lucy."

ok, to get an idea of what this movie is like, imagine the character Guy Pierce played in "PRISCILLA: QUEEN OF THE DESERT", give him a gun and the kind of lines only Bette Davis could pull off and BAM! you have the movie.

This is one of the worst movies I have ever seen. Truly. It makes the Kardashians (whoever they are...) look smart.

The idea for the film is not a bad one, with Stallone or A'nol' in it, it might have made a decent movie to make fun off, but here, it's just too easy. It's so bad, it's bad.

Pierce comes across as a buff drag queen, trying to help some dame off a prison ship. I was hoping at some point that the dame would just grab him by the shoulder pads and slap him and bark at him to act like a man, not like some hysterical ABFAB-wannabee...

I am getting a headache just from remembering watching this movie so I better cut this short...

In space (as the ALIEN ad line went...) no one wears Mary-Kay too overtly...

Not everyone is going to like this movie: if you're a die-hard sci-fi fan who has a serious approach to the genre, you might not. But if you like sci-fi to not take itself at all seriously and you have a sense of humour, you might--like me-- love it.

The best description of this film comes from its lead character, Snow, played by Guy Pearce: "I'm going to be sick." A complete waste of the wonderful Pearce in this film, with its juvenile dialogue, cliched characters, and overdone action scenes. One star because Snow does not trust politicians (and rightly so) and one for the Raveonettes "Beat City" at the close.

Ridiculously stupid movie. Guy Pierce only says one liners the entire movie, not his best movie by far. As a dedicated sci-fi junky, lots and lots of holes everywhere, leave brain on shelf before watching, but it is what it is and is mediocre for an action movie. Nothing new here.

This wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, it is far from being great. Just another shootem up bangem up move. Very predictable.

Scott Langral: "Again, what happened in that hotel room?" Snow: "Uhhh, it was coupon night and I was trampolining your wife." (Snow is punched in the face) Scott Langral: "You're a real comedian aren't you, Snow?" Snow: "Well I guess that's why they call it the punch line." (Snow is punched again) Scott Langral: "You don't like me, do you?" Snow: "Don't flatter yourself. I don't like anybody." Scott Langral: "With that attitude, I can see why nobody likes you." Snow: "Oh, come on. People love me. Just ask your wife." (Snow is punched again)
