Interesting story, never imagined how the story would proceed or how it would end enjoyed it any way and kept me glued to the screen.

A seemingly easy score for a cash strapped crooked insurance salesman soon turned into nightmarish complications. It all began at an offsite conference when he met ...

Insurance agent Mickey Prohaska ( Greg Kinnear ) is on thin ice at home as well as with his personal finances. When switching and selling a client's valuable violin looks like an easy solution to his money problems Mickey gets more than he bargained for. Thin Ice is a comedy drama that has one guessing who is conning who throughout the movie.

This movie was billed as a comedy, but it wasn't funny. It felt like a rip-off of the movie "Fargo." Greg Kinnear plays a kind of sleazy salesman who sees an opportunity to get ahead by taking advantage of an old man (similar to the William Macy character in Fargo). Things go wrong and a crime is committed. The movie is set during winter in Wisconsin (like the Fargo setting). It has some good actors (Kinnear and Alan Arkin), but the story did nothing for me.

A neo-noir reminiscent to me of "Fargo", and "The Ice Harvest", with its frosty setting. The plot thickens halfway through, and leads to a pretty unexpected albeit preposterous twist ending. I enjoyed it, nevertheless. Caught me completely off-guard.

Very dull.

Enjoyable little Coen-esque film made without the Coens' skills. Still, not a bad waste of time.
