Stupid movie, waste of time.

Crap! Don't waste your time, almost completely unwatchable.

This movie is a mess. It feels so slow and boring you begin to feel it will never end. The characters in it are just pretentious, dull and annoying and they grate on your nerves before long. I am not sure if there is even a point to this movie other than writers are big hedonists, narcissists and vampires who steal everyone else's life story for self enrichment. A pretty solid bomb of a movie.

-Yeah. To the good, old, dead, demented men we love.
-And to the West."

Disappointed. Horrible attempt at putting the book on screen (which is an impossible task, in my opinion). Not even a good movie on its own.

It's not great. The scenes are repetitive and the movie itself it's wayyyyy too long. It felt like it lasted 3.5 hours instead of 2 but they could have made it last only 45 minutes and it would have been the same. Don't waste your time.

Can't agree more with the patron comments already written as of 12/29/15. The movie lacks imagination and is a series of depressing episodes. I did not read the book, but it looks like a classic book was made into a boring movie. I would recommend passing on seeing "On the Road"! The movie certainly is not deserving as a selection to "Sundance Selects"!

They said it was "unfilmable." Maybe they were right. . . .But you can't understand these people without bearing in mind the stifling conformity of the Post-War years (believe me, I know: I lived through them), or the straitjacket of the preceding 20 years of Depression and War. . . . this should give you the same impression as uncorking a bottle of Champagne. . . .and feeling it go flat. . . I don't think it succeeds, but it's a nice try.

There is nothing enlightening in boring, depressive, self-absorbed hedonism presented by the characters that we are supposed to accept as ventures "in the pursuit of it, the pure essence of experience".
Pure nonsense.

Never read the book, but thought the movie would be interesting. WRONG!
