The film recounts the story of Dinah's mothers Leah, Rachel, Zilpah, and Bilhah, the four wives of Jacob. An engaging, epic, biblical-fiction follows the life of the main character, Dinah, from childhood to elder. The costumes, locations and cinematography, are all excellent. Perfect casting for the lead (Rebecca Ferguson), and good casting for most (not all) of the other main characters. While this mini-series as a whole is fairly well done and very enjoyable, there are scenes and there are performances that drip "mini-series" quality. It's obvious, at times, the shooting schedule was tight. BTW, the series is actually in two parts for a total run time of 3-hours, not 90 minutes as the bibliocommons descriptions claims. All in all, it's a good story and an excellent choice for a cold winter night with some hot chocolate and a warm blanket!

This was one of the best mini-series films that I have seen. It reminds me of " Mists of Avalon" in a way that it's a story that is told on a woman's perspective in a "man's" world. I loved it because it was poignant and held my interest from start to finish.

I was disappointed. The story is line is not accurate. I prefer when at least the history stays as close to the Bible as possible but this was way out.

The men are rugged, the women fresh from the salon and are they speaking with British accents? Hollywood knows no limits.
Filmed in Morocco.

One of my students recommended "The Red Tent" to me because I enjoy historical fiction. All of the characters became multi-dimensional as the story revealed itself little by little. The relational chart in the front of the book is essential to tracking the cast. Dinah and crew will have you cheering, cringing and crying.

I did not watch the entire movie.

I love the settings and the romance of the Shepard girl falling in love with a prince. However it was hard for me to keep track of all the relationships in the story. I don't know the bible very well, so it left me wondering if the events were before Moses or after with Egypt in the story.

not as good as the book but I enjoyed the cinematography

Based on the novel, not the bible... it didn't really captivate me in any way...gave up half way.

I loved this movie - it was better than any other biblical-based movies I've seen. If it HAD been a factual biblical offering, I would NOT have been interested. It is a good woman's story ('story').
Loved the movie, now will read the book... ***** (five stars!)
