Very well acted, and thought-provoking. It's nice seeing the depth of Will Smith's acting ability, when he cares to show it.

Just finished watching this movie for the second time, watched it this time for a school assignment (biological psychology). Some of the deceased players are mentioned in our textbook.
A powerful movie, great acting. Did not find it boring at all. It's really tragic what American football does to its players. Unfortunately I cannot grasp what kind of excitement this sport offers to people. It is only brutal and absurd to aim on each other's heads. And that's called a sport? I wish it was abolished for the sake of the players, who put in risk of life even their families, when suffering from CTE.
Shocked there are newspaper articles attacking this movie for twisting the facts. Done some research and considering the testimony in the special features at the end of the movie (please watch it, there are real individuals discussing this case), I found only one inaccuracy: Dr. Omalu named the CTE in this movie, however the CTE was already known in the scientific field. But credit given to Dr. Omalu for discovering the link between American football-concussions and - CTE.
We need more individuals like Dr. Omalu. We have to fight for the truth no matter what.

Great movie about the NFL and brain trauma. Will Smith is solid as Dr. Omalu. Worth seeing!

Will Smith delivers a powerhouse performance as the Nigerian pathologist who discovered the link between multiple concussions in NFL athletes and acquired brain injury and mental illness. The horrific aftermath is premature death, suicide and a hidden toll on families struggling to come to terms with the slow unravelling of their loved ones.
The heroic doctor's subsequent demonization by the powers that be intent on maintaining the money train in their patch of turf turned this into a David vs Goliath battle reminiscent of the fight against Big Tobacco. The only drawback is knowing that in the decade since this revelation little has changed. As the tagline says, 'Nothing hits harder than the truth'. A+++

I've always liked Will Smith but never thought him to be an actor of depth. I was wrong, this is the second feature I have seen recently which shows him to be a great and dedicated actor. His portrayal of a remarkable immigrant, Dr. Bennet Omalu, is superb. On top of Smiths excellent performance lies an incredible story, superbly told and with a happy (ish) ending.

What makes the story remarkable is that Omalu won through having risked all to protect his fellow Americans, regardless of race, creed or colour.

Highly recommended.

I found this movie very powerful. Will Smith does an excellent job of conveying the great risks to self and career Dr. Bennet Omalu undertook in order to bring light to the substantial cumulative brain damage being suffered by NFL players, and the long-term life-destroying effects it was having on them. Watching the emotional turmoil a good man was put through by the sporting industry as he pursued acknowledgement of a problem and increased safety protections to save lives was heartbreaking.

In response to other commenters stating the movie was "slow"; It's definitely not an explosion-packed action movie. But I cannot bring to mind any scenes that dragged on past what was necessary for exposition.

It was an OK movie, but like most over-hyped Hollywood fodder types, it was very slow and political in nature.

Dr. Bennet Omalu: Need is not weak. Need is need... You have to be the best version of yourself. If you don't know what that is you pick something and fake it

Many quotes in IMDb already as:

Dr. Cyril Wecht: The NFL owns a day of the week. The same day the Church used to own. Now it's theirs.
