"From storytelling phenomenon The Moth: a collection about risk, courage, and facing the unknown, drawn from the best stories ever told on their stages. All These Wonders features voices both familiar and new. Storytellers include Louis C.K., Tig Notaro, John Turturro, and Meg Wolitzer, as well as a hip hop "one hit wonder," an astronomer gazing at the surface of Pluto for the first time, and a young female spy risking everything as part of Churchill's "secret army" during World War II. They share their ventures into uncharted territory--and how their lives were changed forever by what they found there. These true stories have been carefully selected and adapted to the page by the creative minds at The Moth, and will encompass the very best of the 17,000+ stories performed in live Moth shows around the world."-- Provided by publisher.

Some of these stories are funny, some are heartwarming, some are heartbreaking -- and they're all true. The individual voices of the storytellers (who actually lived the stories) come through (even with different accents!) though the stories are compressed into a couple of pages each. I've heard some of these on "The Moth" on KUOW, and even so, I couldn't put it down.

The compression required to bring these very very short essays to full vivid colour is truly an art. The artists are special. There experiences are as well.
I especially like that I can read one and then think just about it for some time after.

I think this is the third Moth story book the library has and I have loved all of them. I look forward to Tuesdays at noon on NPR radio when I can hear the stories read by the storytellers themselves and wish I could go hear them live. The stories are all too real, you can put yourself in the storytellers' place or at least wonder what you would have done if you were in that situation.
The best part is, I have many new authors to check out. Thumbs up!
