Jack Reacher takes aim at the White House in the sixth novel in Lee Child's New York Times bestselling series. Skilled, cautious, and anonymous, Jack Reacher is perfect for the job: to assassinate the vice president of the United States. Theoretically, of course. A female Secret Service agent wants Reacher to find the holes in her system, and fast—because a covert group already has the vice president in their sights. They've planned well. There's just one thing they didn't plan on: Reacher.
Unfortunately, Reacher spends his time on defense for practically the whole story. As a result, we are left with tedium of guesses and what ifs that often leaves the reader or listener frustrated and drained throughout this chase. 4 of 10 stars
I was extremely disappointed to discover that this is an abridged version, but does not say that anywhere on the package or in this library listing. The only hint is a running time of just over 5 hours. The unabridged version is over 13 hours. All abridged audio books should be identified on the packaging. I wish the library had a policy of only purchasing unabridged versions, but if they aren't going to hold to that policy, they should at least very clearly identify when an item is an abridged version. I'll probably buy this one from Audible since the library doesn't have the unabridged version of this book.

Another very good effort in the Jack Reacher series. 8 of 10 for me.
