This is the true story of Gary Hart, the former Colorado senator who quickly rose to the top of the pack as the number one contender for the 1987 Democratic presidential primary. Due to his charisma and drive, Hart connects well with the younger constituents, and both himself and his aides see this a clear and present path to victory. But allegations soon emerge of an extramarital affair, and Hart is forced to deal with the impact that these new allegations have not just on his campaign but on every aspect of his reputation and his personal life.

The most memorable news report that was splashed everywhere was the picture of Donna Rice sitting on Gary Hart's lap on the dock. That wasn't even mentioned. Overall, superficial and boring.

The movie showed how politicians thought they didn't have to answer for their actions but it also showed how unscrupulous news reports are.

This story is at its best starting at 1:18 into the timeline. Take away ... one example of a way to confront lies & defamation - popular stupid human past times. The issue remains, how can people in real life vet our leaders to know the full truth before we vote?

Never got to see it due to issues with special needs, like captions/subtitles. Apparently I didn't miss much according to many reviews. I'll leave it there without adding my snarky political views.

There was too much about the machinations of getting the candidate elected for me. Yes, we’ll acted, but the lead up to the scandal got boring.

This was well acted and interesting, but just another film in the arsenal of thinly veiled "resistance" films we've seen since the 2016 election. It is dual minded, given that we've seen chauvinistic behavior from political leaders on both sides of the aisle over the past decades.

A fine movie, well acted and some interesting concepts were brought up and discussed. Nice that Hart and his wife stayed together and Donna went on a did very well in life. At my age I like going back and being reminded of past scandles. I remember Johney Carson making jokes about what was going on during Hart's campain. My thoughts at that time were what a dumb ass, why would he put himself is such bad light if his aim is to become President of the United States.

This was so contrite that I could not watch the movie after 20 minutes. Perhaps you'd like it more than I do, but I couldn't stand it at all, despite the good performances.

An elegantly done movie about power and opportunity for Mr. Hart and the press. I remember this 'scandal' and felt sorry for Mrs. Hart.
