Unlike the Alex Cross books I've read recently, this was fairly enjoyable. John O'Hara (or The Tourist, or whatever else he's calling himself) is a pretty decent, likable hero. And Nora Sinclair, the villain, is interesting as well. There are some problems with the plot - characters like Patsy the nurse who are never fully developed or explained, and I still don't completely understand the business with the list of names and accounts. Patterson seems to think it's pretty simple to murder someone with an untraceable poison, or to transfer large amounts of money from someone's account without their knowledge. He glosses over these plot difficulties without fully explaining how they're done. But his readers (most of his readers) don't seem to mind. One final word about sex. Nora is a black widow serial killer. She uses sex to entrap wealthy men, steals their money, then kills them. The sex in the book isn't overly graphic, but it's there, throughout the book.
