IMO - Fred Astaire may have been an incomparable dancer, and he may have even been an adequate singer, too. But, with that said - There was definitely one thing that he was not - And that was a convincing romantic leading man.
And, here in 1957's "Funny Face" - Astaire was 58 years old and his romantic interest in the story was the character played by a 28-year-old Audrey Hepburn.
And, with that in mind - This "absolutely forced" love affair between these two was certainly enough to give this less-than-satisfied viewer a genuine case of the creeps.
All-in-all - I believe that for one to get any sincere enjoyment out of watching "Funny Face" - They would have to be viewing it through the haze of rose-colored glasses.
