At first I resisted seeing this movie. I didn't think it would have anything new to offer. I was wrong! Surprisingly, this story offers charm and wonder in casual fashion as if it had always been there. She travels to Prague to live out the last of her days and discovers a world she never knew existed. There is a lot of camp to the story, but instead of detracting, it simply serves to make you laugh. The characters are funny, the supporting role by Gerard Depardieu was marvelous. He struck just the right amount of humor and heart. Timothy Hutton is great as the frustrated senator and Alica Witt is beautiful as always. Who wouldn't want to spend a month with her high in the snowy mountains next to a warm fire with a bottle of champagne? The scenery is awe inspiring and spectacular and will make you want to book your next vacation to Czechoslovakia -- and maybe stay there for the rest of your life.
