I read another review that stated that nothing happens in this book. They were right. Nothing happens. We come full circle and never get any closer to the answer of what the aliens are doing and why they are doing it. We get some characters thrown in, then tossed back out by the end. It happens over the course of a few days, and the nonlinear writing gets on your nerves quickly. No, not flashbacks. Just reminiscences. By the end, I was left wondering what the heck was going on… still. I liked Ringer's perspective slightly more than Cassie's - hers made sense, and there was reason behind her coldness. Disappointing in that the plot obviously has gotten too complicated even for the author to follow. I read the end of the third book and am quite happy I didn't commit to reading it completely.
