Even though it is about a 7th grade boy with cancer, this is not your typical "sad" book. Harrell does a great job with his main character, 12-year-old Ross who would like everyone at school to forget that he undergoing treatment for cancer and just go back to ignoring him as usual. Ross likes to draw so the story includes his drawings, including his ongoing Bat-pig comic. Funny and at times very bittersweet, this is a sure bet for middle school readers, especially those that like Wonder by R. J. Palacio.
